Forrest Flowers Does Fashion

When you hear the name Forrest Flowers, you wouldn't be wrong to instantly think of London’s finest DIY punk four piece. You might be interested to know, however, that the name also encompasses all of charismatic front man Noel’s artistic pursuits. In the last few years, this has included jewellery and miscellaneous trinkets and artefacts handmade from metal, coffin nails, taxidermy insects, animal teeth and, a fan favourite, bones found whilst mudlarking. It was inevitable really that this would eventually expand to include clothes. Available for the first time at the October 2nd Satanic Flea Market, a wonderfully dark happening that takes place each season at Electrowerkz in Islington, this first collection of one-of-one pieces will be found on Forrest Flowers’ stall, which is quickly becoming a true staple at the event. The garments are an eclectic mix of DIY heaven; up-cycled gore metal shirts reimagined into dresses and skirts are a nod to the style worn at underground queer raves and goth nights, while cut-up knitwear mixes elements of 70’s punk with 90’s grunge, all tied together in the glow of current mash-up culture and meta-irony trends. Without a doubt, this first drop of pieces is not to be missed, and it bodes well for the future of the Forrest Flowers household name - it does seem that anything that he touches is gold.
