Artist: Sol Harding

iiiIIIII HA@atttTEEEe myyYYYYYY FacEEE(face())))),,,,,, i fucking hate my face,,,,,,,)((()(((((

Sol’s practice roots itself in exploration of the body and manipulating this as a tool for expression- using materials to alter the body and push it to its limits. He often works within live performance, and is interested in ways of documenting this. He also works in costume for theatre and cross disciplinary practices such as art direction and film making- which all inform his artistic practice. Thematically, Sol's work often follows narratives of dysmorphia, anxiety and self hatred through expressing inward horrors through outward actions.

These video stills are a direct response to the body, as well as allowing the body to respond back. The material of clay is used as a heavy cover for the features on the face, making them disappear. The process is shown as being painful and uncomfortable- much like the emotional state of looking in a mirror and wishing you could erase what you see.
