RYA - 'Impasse'

Following the success of her debut single ‘Karma’, RYA is back with an all new vibe with her single ‘Impasse’. Fierce pop has been replaced with a soft, mellow tone that, together with melancholy lyrics, does well to set a moody and introspective scene. Impasse tells the story of that deadlock point in a relationship, where you know things aren’t as they first were, but you’re not yet ready to break the cycle and end it. 

RYA says: “I tend to ruminate a lot, so it’s quite cathartic to put those persistent thoughts into music. That’s what this song is for me, it’s the swirling of thoughts that end up on a merry-go-round in your head, kind of like a turntable. The song is about relationships ending. Whether they are romantic or otherwise, the decision is always a struggle where neither side is capable of winning or willing to give in. One side being your head, and the other your heart.”

 RYA is a female singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from South West London. Never one to sit idly, RYA is also currently studying medicine, as well as working as a bartender and part-time model. She has featured in ads and music videos, the most notable being ‘Boasty’ by Wiley, Stefflon Don and Sean Paul and ‘I Know You’ by Craig David ft. Bastille.
