How Does Your Garden Grow?
A look at the collection “How Does Your Garden Grow?” by designer Sydney Cassidy @sydneycassidydesign / Photography by @nicholas_d_busigo, set design and assistance @___irenek___, model @ariaherbst.
“This collection is inspired by the clean up efforts of the British people and return back to normality following the Blitz during World War II in which bombs were dropped on major cities in England for eleven months. With food rationing and most of the city destroyed, the British people became extremely resourceful and self sufficient growing their own produce and repairing rather than replacing. With climate change being a harsh reality I was interested in the sustainability, purity and slower pace of life in the 40s. The sepia toned colour palette is inspired by colourised images from the time. The majority of pieces in this collection are suitable to be worn by men and women and are an oversized silhouette as if it could have been passed down from a relative. Fabrics and leathers were sourced from scraps or donations maintaining this idea of being more sustainable. Made at Pratt Institute in NYC as an exchange student from Kingston School of Art.”
